Childrens Tea Sets

Choosing Children's Tea Sets For Your Little Ones

There are many tips to choosing children's tea sets.  A lot is dependent on the age of the child.  Fortunately there are so many options on the market today that there are many choices to meet the child's needs.  Pricing is as varied as the number of sets available.

Age is one of the main things to take into consideration.  The age will determine how much dexterity a child has and will also help direct the size of the set and accessories.  A child of three or four years old needs a tea set with large handles that are easy to grab.  They should not include anything with small pieces. Children of this age usually are not into all the accessories that go with a set.  A child of seven or eight will want something more elaborate.  They usually prefer sets that include a tea pot, tea cups, aprons and the like.

The older a child the more accessories and realistic they prefer the sets.  Boys usually lose interest around six or seven years old, so the more advanced sets are generally marketed toward girls. Children's tea sets of porcelain provide the real life feel girls are looking for.  Some of the sets are collectible and really not used for play.  However, getting out the porcelain tea set and having a tea party with friends is a memorable experience.  It makes a great birthday party theme.  Many organizations such as girl scouts and schools promote dress up tea parties for Mothers and daughters.

Children's tea sets can be used for boys and girls.  Young boys often enjoy having tea with Mommy and his stuffed bears.  It is a good opportunity to begin teaching the rudiments of table manners and hostess skills.  It encourages children to feel comfortable in their social skills.  Young children learn through mimic and having a tea party makes for the perfect setting to teach through play.  As children get older than can learn and become more accomplished in the art of social interaction, conversation and hostessing.

When purchasing children's tea sets keep pricing in line with how the set is to be used.  For play sets, pricing needs to be kept at a rate that is in line with the child's other toys. For purchasing a collectible set, it is important to research the set to be sure that it is worth the price.  The sets can offer hours of fun but children need to comfortable handling the pieces and not fear breaking them.
